Description
While inflationary paradigm is well supported by observations, little is known about the exact nature of inflaton field and its potential. In the context of the string theory landscape, random potentials are often explored, but in simplistic realizations chances of achieving long inflationary stages are low. Given the observational evidence that inflation has happened, we explore constrained realizations of Gaussian random potentials with long and winding valleys leading to extended inflationary stage. In the limit in which the valley follows a space-filling curve (either regular or random), it is possible to avoid the super-Planckian field excursions required by the usual chaotic inflation models.
