Description

This presentation describes the possibility for physical fields to be excited during inflation which manifest as particles, particularly dark matter. String theory provides very massive fields to parameterize the size and shape of extra dimensions. These fields could be energetically excited, and produce particles during the universe's period of cosmic inflation. A numerical study was conducted to determine if particles as massive as the ones provided in a selected model of string theory could be produced. It was determined that they could be produced, and in enough abundance to match the observed average energy density of dark matter. It was concluded that the fields arising from this model of string theory could be a candidate for heavy dark matter.
